Getting started with Sift

Do you provide a free trial?

Yes, you can sign up for a free 14-day trial to try Sift and ensure it meets your org's needs! You’ll receive access to the entire platform (Sift Complete) to experience the Org Chart, Profiles, and Search in action.

When signing up for a trial, you can choose to upload your own people data or use our sample data for a quick setup. For Enterprise customers, we can extend your trial into a sandbox for further evaluation.

How do I create an automated org chart?

Sift generates an org chart from one of our various integration types. Sift creates a real time org chart based on data from your systems of record.

What is a typical full company rollout timeline?

We have the fastest implementation (per G2). Most customers have Sift deployed in 30 days or less. We also provide you with documentation and a dedicated Client Success Manager to support you every step of the way.

We integrate into Microsoft Teams and have mobile apps (iOS & Android), making it easy to integrate Sift into your collaboration and communication tooling.

Sift never charges implementation fees.

How will I be charged?

Sift charges based on users. Each plan starts with 20 users. Additional users can be added at a per-user fee (contact us for volume discounts), by increments of 5 until 100 users and then by increments of 20 beyond 100. You may add unlimited employee profiles or people charted to Sift, and only charged for those with login access.

What is a “User”?

A User is someone who can login to Sift. They are able to edit their own Profile, view the Org Chart within Sift, and search for others in the organization via the Directory (based on your chosen plan).

What are my payment options?

Sift offers a multitude of payment options. Sift agreements are for a standard term (one year) with payment due at contract signing. Please talk to our Sales Team for details.

Can I have my full organization added into Sift, but only have access for a small group or single department?

Sift charges for the number of Users, or people with login access. For example, if your organization has 500 employees, but only 75 of them need access to Sift, you will only be charged for those 75 Users.

For Sift Org Chart, you get unlimited people charted. For Sift Directory, you get unlimited custom employee profiles. For Sift Complete, you have both limitless options.

How am I charged when adding users during the term of the agreement?

If you go above the amount of Users contracted during your current term, Sift will invoice you for the difference between the current user increment and the next for the remainder of the current term. At the renewal date, your agreement will renew at the increment aligned to your current User count.

Integrations & your data

How secure is my data? Does Sift meet compliance requirements?

We take data security seriously. Our SOC 2 audit, regular security tests, and GDPR compliance mean your information stays protected at all times. You can learn more about our security and privacy posture here.

How do you integrate with my employee data?

Sift supports importing employee data from multiple internal data sources. This could be an HR system, like Workday or UKG, Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Microsoft Azure Active Directory), Google Workspace (formerly G Suite), Okta, Ping Identity, or a CSV (spreadsheet) file.

For example, you could import some of your employees from an HR system, sync employees’ names and email addresses from Microsoft Entra ID and industry certifications from a CSV file via another internal system.

What is a custom attribute?

A custom attribute is a piece of your people data that is specific to your org's directory and org chart needs. We provide many useful attributes on the Org Chart and Profile page by default, but administrators can create custom attributes to make Sift truly fit your company.

If you want to showcase industry certifications that is important to move work forward, that is a custom attribute. If you want to be able to highlight remote workers on the org chart, that is a custom attribute.

Can users message each other within Sift?

Sift does not currently offer a native messaging or chat feature. However, you can integrate with your existing communication tools, such as Microsoft Teams or Slack to create a message button on the profile that’ll link to those tools.

Can I use Sift to build an org chart from scratch?

No, Sift is not a diagram tool like Visio or Lucid (we do integrate with Lucid). Sift aims to be a real-time representation of your organization from your data, so you always have an up-to-date view of your company.
